Replacing the refrigeration equipment

Vivid Air DFW replaced the cooling equipment serving an existing Dallas wine cellar in August 2026. The work included removal of the existing evaporator and condensing equipment and installation of an LRC HS47EC ducted evaporator with a separate Copeland condensing unit.

The new equipment was connected to the existing refrigeration piping, condensate drain, electrical wiring and controls. This was a refrigeration equipment replacement for an existing wine room, rather than construction of a new cellar.

A replacement involves more than choosing a new compressor or coil. The evaporator, condensing unit, airflow path and controls need to function together for the application. On this project, the documented equipment package included the LRC HS47EC remote high-static evaporator and a Copeland condensing unit. The ducted arrangement connects the equipment to the wine room without placing the evaporator cabinet among the bottle racks.

The work record includes removal and disposal of the previous refrigeration equipment and recovery of its remaining refrigerant. That removal made way for the new equipment and its connections. The photographs below show the earlier equipment alongside the replacement process, giving homeowners a view of the mechanical work that usually stays out of sight.

Before replacement and during installation

The first photograph shows the existing cooling equipment before removal. The second shows the replacement equipment during installation, including the evaporator cabinet and the secondary drain pan below it. Installation-stage photographs also show connections and components before the work is finished; they should be read alongside the final equipment views.

The installed equipment

These views show the installed evaporator cabinet, separate condensing unit, insulated suction piping, duct connections and drain arrangement in the attic equipment area.

In a ducted arrangement, air travels between the wine room and the evaporator through connected ducts. Refrigerant piping links the evaporator to the separate condensing unit. The two assemblies have different jobs, even when they occupy the same equipment area. These photographs show the physical layout used for this Dallas replacement.

Existing connections can be valuable when they remain suitable for the replacement equipment. They should not be assumed reusable simply because they are already present. For another wine cellar, our evaluation would consider piping condition and compatibility, duct routing, drainage, electrical requirements and controls before defining the replacement scope. The completion record for this project documents reconnection to the existing piping, drain, wiring and controls.

Startup and system checks

After installation, the refrigeration connections were pressure-tested, the system was evacuated and the equipment was charged to its specifications. Completion notes document checks of compressor operation, evaporator fan operation, airflow, refrigerant performance, condensate drainage and temperature controls.

Controls were adjusted for wine-room operation. Future service access, drainage and the condition of existing connections are important parts of an equipment replacement.

Pressure testing and evacuation are separate steps. Pressure testing checks the connected refrigeration circuit for leaks, while evacuation prepares it for charging by removing air and moisture. Startup then checks the assembled system in operation, including its compressor, evaporator fan, airflow and controls. This project’s completion notes record those steps rather than simply stating that new equipment was set in place.

Drainage is another part of the system that deserves attention. Moisture collected at the evaporator needs a working drain route. The installation photographs show the drain arrangement and pan, and the completion notes record a condensate drainage check. The documented result is an installed and tested cooling system; no specific long-term temperature or humidity reading is claimed here.

Wine cellar cooling replacement in Dallas

Vivid Air DFW works on dedicated split-system wine cellar cooling equipment. If your wine room is running warm, leaking water or having recurring cooling problems, we can evaluate the existing installation and explain repair or replacement options.

When contacting us, send photographs of the evaporator and condensing equipment, any readable model labels, and a short description of the problem. Tell us whether the issue is constant or intermittent and whether any recent repairs have been made. Those details help us prepare for the visit and distinguish a service request from a replacement estimate.

Project questions

What equipment was replaced?

The Dallas project replaced the existing wine-room evaporator and condensing equipment with an LRC HS47EC ducted evaporator and a separate Copeland condensing unit.

Does a replacement require rebuilding the wine room?

This project replaced refrigeration equipment serving an existing wine cellar. Whether a different installation can reuse piping, ducts, drainage and controls requires an inspection of their condition and compatibility.

Equipment resources: LRC wine-room evaporators and Copeland condensing units.
